 1967

   Law Society & Attorney General establish legal aid plan for criminal offences

 1972

   Carter Committee recommends staff system emphasizing community involvement

 1974  

   Community Legal Services Act passed, creating the    Saskatchewan Community Legal Services Commission

 1983

   Legal Aid Act is passed, streamlining administration of services by coordinating area offices under the newly-named Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission

 1989

   Legal Aid Act amended to clarify assessment and collection of contributions

 1995

   New Regulations came into effect, with primary changes relating to contributions

 2000    Legal Aid Act amended to (1) remove choice of counsel for those charged with murder and treason; and (2) to separate roles of Chair and CEO
2004, 2006

   Legal Aid Act amended to reflect the name change of the Department of Social  Services to Department of Community Resources & Employment  and then to Department of Community Resources.
