Refugee and Immigration Services

Pursuing Legal Aid Saskatchewan’s vision of inclusive, responsive, and equitable justice, and its values of compassion, collaboration, courage, and transformation, LAS retained a consultant to assess the need for federally funded refugee and immigration legal aid services.

The consultant’s report, Refugee and Immigration Services Situational Assessment August 28, 2025, clearly identifies a gap in service delivery that compromises access to justice for refugees and immigrants in Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission received the report in September 2025. The Commission has asked LAS’s CEO to submit a business case to the Federal Government requesting funding for refugee and immigration legal aid services. Should this federal funding be approved, LAS will move forward with the development and implementation of refugee and immigration services.

LAS would like to thank those of you who contributed to the report. We look forward to continued collaboration in the service of refugees and immigrants in Saskatchewan.
