Legal Aid Saskatchewan to host 2nd annual #SKA2JWeek Movie Night

October 23, 2025

The 10th Annual Saskatchewan Access to Justice Week (#SKA2JWeek) takes place October 27th through November 2nd! As part of this province-wide dialogue on improving access to justice, Legal Aid Saskatchewan is pleased to host an evening of amazing cinematography, reflection, and learning at The Roxy Theatre in Saskatoon!

Join us on Thursday, October 30, at 7:00 p.m. at The Roxy Theatre in Saskatoon for the 2nd Annual LAS #SKA2JWeek Movie Night!

Reconciliation and the implementation of the TRC Calls to Action are the prerequisites for true, meaningful access to justice. LAS is screening two short films that lay the groundwork for a deep understanding of what reconciliation means. The first film, Waniska - an Awakening of Indigenous Knowledge, features a group of Elders out on the land as they address the importance of Indigenous knowledge and how this knowledge system may be called upon to assist humanity. This was filmed in Northern Saskatchewan and has a running time of 24 minutes. The second film, Economic Reconciliation, features Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders sharing their insights and a hopeful glimpse at a respectful and prosperous future. The film demonstrates that reconciliation is key to economic certainty and prosperity in Canada. (23 minutes running time).

Following each film, a short discussion period will be held. There is no cost to attend this event. We look forward to seeing you there!
